The solubility of 3-(Perfluorohexyl)propanol in alcohols, such as methanol and ethanol, is significantly higher than in water. 3-(Perfluorohexyl)propanol can be manufactured using a variety of chemical reactions and also by reacting an ammonium salt with an imidazolium or pyridinium cation.
