3-(Perfluorooctyl)propan-1-ol is a perfluorinated compound that has been used to monitor the body for the presence of various drugs. It is structurally similar to piperidine, and can be used as a structural analog. 3-(Perfluorooctyl)propan-1-ol can be quantified using GC/MS or LC/MS, and it does not have an odor or flavor. Its use in animals has been limited because it is toxic to CD-1 mice. This chemical has also been shown to produce amide, aldehyde, and triazine metabolites in animal tissue homogenates.
