Pentafluoroethanesulfonic acid is a fluorinated inorganic acid that is used as a cross-linking agent for polymers. It has an acidic nature due to its protonated form, and can be used to produce silver ion complexes with the addition of silver ions. Pentafluoroethanesulfonic acid also activates radiation and is useful for metal hydroxide synthesis, hydrogen bond formation, cationic polymerization, and chlorine atom substitution reactions. This chemical is stable at room temperature and has low volatility.
