Potassium ethyl(trifluoro)borate (KETFB) is a functional group that is used in organic synthesis. KETFB is an aromatic hydrocarbon with a mass spectrometric, reaction selectivity and inflammatory disease. It has been shown to inhibit the production of polyglutamine proteins and cross-link polyglutamine chains in animal models. This leads to neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. The environmental pollution of KETFB is also linked to cancer, because it produces biphenyl, which can be carcinogenic.
