Potassium cyclopentyltrifluoroborate (KCPFB) is a chemical reagent that can be used to synthesize cyclic amides. It is a strong nucleophile and can react with electrophiles in the presence of a base, such as methides or alkylsulfonyl groups. KCPFB has been used in cross-coupling reactions to synthesize compounds containing two or more rings. This method has also been used to make synthetically useful ligands by allylation of chiral amines. Potassium cyclopentyltrifluoroborate is an effective inhibitor of protein synthesis, which may be due to its ability to bind to the enzyme ribonuclease A at the active site.
