It is also used as a cross-linking agent to create polymers with improved thermal stability and chemical stability. 1,2,3,4,5-Pentafluoro-6-(trifluorovinyl)benzene undergoes free radical polymerization in the presence of copper complexes or radiation. This process allows for the formation of polymers that are resistant to hydrochloric acid and fluorine. 1,2,3,4,5-Pentafluoro-6-(trifluorovinyl)benzene has been shown to be an effective radiation polymerization catalyst for cationic polymerization of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide.
