Rn(+)-4-(4-nitrobenzyl)-2-oxazolidinone is an organic solvent that is used as a reagent for the diazotization of aromatic amines. It has been shown to be useful in the synthesis of zolmitriptan, a triptan drug used to treat migraine headaches. This compound can also be used as a reducing agent in hydrogenation reduction reactions and as an acetal forming agent. Rn(+)-4-(4-nitrobenzyl)-2-oxazolidinone is highly reactive and acidic in nature, so it should not be mixed with alkaline solutions or other strong bases.
