Rhodomyrtone is an antibacterial agent that belongs to the group of quinoline derivatives. It has been demonstrated to have bactericidal activity against staphylococci and pyogenes and is effective at a concentration of 0.1-0.2 µg/mL when tested in vitro. Rhodomyrtone has been shown to inhibit the biosynthesis of bacterial DNA by binding to intracellular targets, leading to cell lysis and death. The bactericidal effect of rhodomyrtone is due to its ability to disrupt the cell membrane, which leads to leakage of cellular contents and subsequent cell death.
