Descripción:Ramiprilat is an angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor that is used to treat high blood pressure and congestive heart failure. It binds to the active site of the enzyme and blocks its activity, inhibiting the formation of angiotensin II. Ramiprilat reduces matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-9 activity in human polymorphonuclear leukocytes, which may be due to its inhibitory properties on MMP-9 synthesis. This drug has been shown to decrease the rate of myocardial infarction in patients with left ventricular dysfunction.
