Voriconazole is a triazole antifungal agent used for the treatment of a variety of fungal infections. It inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol, which is an essential component of fungal cell membranes. Voriconazole binds to the cytochrome P450 system, stabilizing it and preventing its inactivation by other drugs. This drug can be administered intravenously or intravitreally. Voriconazole also has a stabilizing effect on protein and lipid-based formulations and is suitable for freeze-dried or solubilized preparations. It has been shown that voriconazole injection compositions are stable at room temperature for up to four weeks when stored in amber glass vials, although they should be protected from light and moisture.
