Descripción:9-cis-Retinol acetate is a synthetic retinoid that has been shown to have antioxidant properties. It prevents the oxidation of lipids, proteins and DNA by inhibiting the activity of enzymes such as cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase, which are responsible for generating reactive oxygen species. 9-cis-Retinol acetate also increases glutathione levels, which scavenges reactive oxygen species. 9-cis-Retinol acetate can be used to treat oxidative injury in different tissues such as the skin, liver, bowel, lung and eye. 9-cis-Retinol acetate can be used in low doses to prevent oxidative injury in the human fetus during pregnancy or in high doses to treat oxidant injuries caused by radiation exposure or chemotherapy.
