Descripción

Smac-N7 is a peptide that binds to the mitochondrial pathway of apoptosis and inhibits the activation of caspase-3. This peptide has been shown to inhibit the death ligand, which would normally trigger the release of cytochrome c from mitochondria and activate other caspases. In addition, Smac-N7 has been shown to induce cleavage activity in cells. It also prevents the protein survivin from binding to cellular receptors, which may be responsible for its ability to inhibit cell proliferation.
