Descripción:Sodium 3-methyl-2-oxobutanoate is a medication that belongs to the class of amides. It has been shown to improve symptoms of psychosis, depression and hyperactivity in patients with glutaric acidemia type I. Sodium 3-methyl-2-oxobutanoate has been used as a model substrate for studying biochemical reactions in corynebacterium glutamicum. This drug has also been shown to produce neuropharmacological effects, including increased dopamine levels and reduced acetylcholine release. The mechanism of action is not fully understood, but it may be due to the activation of lysosomal enzymes and the induction of apoptosis in brain cells.
