Suberoyl chloride has been shown to be a potent inducer of autoimmunity and inflammatory responses in animal models. The biological properties of this compound are due to the presence of nitrogen atoms, which can form hydrogen bonds with water molecules, as well as its hydroxyl group and ester linkages. Suberoyl chloride also has been shown to have anti-tumor activity in vitro against k562 cells by inhibiting their growth through cell cycle arrest and induction of apoptosis.
