Senecivernine N-oxide is a metabolite of the alkaloid senecivernine. Senecivernine N-oxide is found in humans and the plant Aspalathus linearis. The analytical method for this compound has been established using LC-MS/MS. The matrix effect, which is the difference in response to chemical compounds due to their different levels of solubility in different matrices, can be controlled by adding an appropriate chemical modifier to the mobile phase. Retronecine, retrorsine, and intermedine are metabolites of senecivernine that have also been identified using LC-MS/MS.
