The fluoroquinolone antibiotic, 4-[[(4-Cyclohexylphenyl)methyl][2-[methyl[(2,3,4,5,6-pentafluorophenyl)sulfonyl]amino]acetyl]amino]benzoic acid (FQABA), is an analog of Ciprofloxacin. FQABA inhibits the activity of a specific protein that is essential for the replication of poliovirus. It has been shown to be active against a variety of bacterial and viral pathogens. 4-[[(4-Cyclohexylphenyl)methyl][2-[methyl[(2,3,4,5,6-pentafluorophenyl)sulfonyl]amino]acetyl]amino]benzoic acid has anti-inflammatory properties and may be used as a drug target in the treatment of human infectious diseases.
