The precipitated form of silicic acid has a particle size of less than 5 micrometres, which makes it suitable for use as a filler in paints and coatings. Silicic acid is chemically stable and does not react with glycol ethers or other organic solvents. Silica can be used to produce various types of reactive and basic structures, such as coumarin derivatives. The redox potential of silica is higher than that of zirconium oxide, which means it has greater chemical stability.
