Spiro[3.3]heptane-2-carboxylic acid is a mesomeric molecule that contains a cyclopentenone ring system. It has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of electron transfer, and can therefore be used as a chemical reaction catalyst. Spiro[3.3]heptane-2-carboxylic acid has diacids as well as stereoisomers, which are two different forms of the same molecule with different 3D shapes.
