Descripción:Simazine is a selective herbicide that inhibits plant growth by inhibiting photosynthesis. It is used in agriculture to control weeds in rice fields and other crops. Simazine is also used to treat wastewater, which contains high levels of nitrogen and phosphorus, and to reduce the amount of algae in lakes and streams. The effects of simazine on aquatic plants are influenced by the concentration of the chemical in the water, with higher concentrations resulting in greater inhibition. Simazine has been shown to inhibit rat liver microsomal oxidative enzymes such as cytochrome P450-dependent monooxygenase activity.
