Sulforaphane is a naturally occurring sulfur-containing compound found in cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cabbage, and cauliflower. Sulforaphane has been shown to have anti-cancer properties, including the ability to inhibit colorectal carcinoma. The mechanism of action appears to be related to sulforaphane's ability to activate detoxification enzymes, which may result in the elimination of cancer cells. This compound also has been shown to increase the rate at which fat is broken down by the body, leading to weight loss. Sulforaphane glutathione is a metabolite formed when sulforaphane is ingested with glutathione and it can be detected in urine samples.
