3-Sulfamoylbenzoic acid (3SB) is a chlorine atom that is used as an optical sensor. It has been shown to be an inhibitor for phosphatases and pharmaceuticals dosage, which are enzymes that catalyze the hydrolysis of phosphate esters. 3SB binds to the phosphatase enzyme by forming hydrogen bonds and can be used to identify molecules with a chlorine atom. 3SB also has chromatographic properties, which have been exploited in the chromatographic science industry.
