Strontium fluoride (SrF) is a chemical compound that has been shown to be thermodynamically stable and is used in the process of protein synthesis. It is also used as a radiation source for photomultiplier tubes, which are devices that measure radiation. Strontium fluoride can emit light when heated at high temperatures, which can be used to produce hydrogen fluoride (HF) and hydrochloric acid (HCl). The heat-induced emission of light from SrF is due to the release of electrons from the strontium atom, with the subsequent formation of an electron-hole pair. This electron-hole pair recombines, emitting photons in the visible spectrum.
