Ser(tBu)-OMe.HCl is a reagent that can be used for the synthesis of serine derivatives. This compound has been shown to inhibit osteoclast formation in vitro and in vivo, as well as modulating the expression of kinases and transcriptional factors involved in osteoclasts differentiation. Ser(tBu)-OMe.HCl is also a reactive group that reacts with an aldehyde or alkyl halide to form an amide or ester respectively, yielding high yields. It has been observed that the addition of this reagent downregulates the expression of certain kinases, such as c-Raf and c-Jun, which are involved in bone resorption.
