Descripción:Stigmastane-3,5,6-triol is a derivate of stigmasterol with antiviral properties. It is used as an anti-HIV agent and has been shown to be effective against some RNA viruses. Stigmastane-3,5,6-triol has also been shown to be active against hepatitis virus (HCV) in vitro. This drug blocks viral replication by interfering with the synthesis of viral proteins that are needed for the production of new viruses. It has been found to inhibit HCV RNA polymerase activity and prevents the synthesis of new HCV particles from the existing ones.
