4-Sulfamylbenzoic acid is a model system for the study of transporter and receptor activity. It has been shown to have the ability to inhibit tubule cells in carcinoma cell lines by binding to the protein target, nitrogen atoms, and hydrophobic effect. 4-Sulfamylbenzoic acid has also been shown to bind to the drug transporter and receptor activity. This binding prevents the formation of an inhibitor-transmitter complex with the enzyme that is required for transport or receptor activity, as well as inhibiting protein synthesis and cell division. The kinetic and reaction mechanism are not known at this time.
