Sodium 4-chlorobenzoate is a sodium salt that is used as an antimicrobial agent. It binds to the bacterial cell wall and inhibits the growth of bacteria by preventing the formation of a water channel in the cell membrane. Sodium 4-chlorobenzoate has shown a high degree of efficacy against Covid-19 pandemic, a strain of bacteria that causes pneumonia. This drug also inhibits the production of reactive oxygen species by human serum, which may be due to its ability to bind with nitrogen atoms. The binding constants for this drug are low but it can be effective at higher concentrations. The molecular weight for this compound is 120.07 g/mol and it has a melting point of 156°C.br>
