Descripción

Selenomethionine is a selenium-containing metabolite that has been shown to have anti-cancer and antioxidant properties. Selenomethionine is a sodium salt that can be injected into cells for the treatment of cancer. It may also be used to prevent or inhibit the development of cancer in individuals who are at high risk for developing cancer, such as those with a family history of cancer. Selenomethionine is known to interact with proteins and other molecules in the cell by binding to the cyclin D2 protein and inhibiting its function. Selenomethionine is an effective antimicrobial agent against insect pests and has been shown to be effective at reducing the levels of hydrogen peroxide in wastewater, which may lead to improved water quality. Selenomethionine also plays a role in maintaining mitochondrial membrane potential in cells, which may help support healthy cellular function. Selenomethionine has also been found to have anti-inflammatory properties
