SAMS peptide is a model system that has been shown to have steric interactions with enzymes. It can bind to the active site of an enzyme and inhibit its activity by occupying the binding site, thereby preventing substrate molecules from accessing the active site. SAMS peptide has been shown to bind to human immunoglobulin (IgG) in a steric manner, inhibiting IgG's enzymatic activity. The inhibition of IgG by SAMS peptide was concentration-dependent and reversible. The inhibition of Igs by SAMS peptide is due to the conformational properties of the peptides and their ability to fit into pockets on IgGs, which prevents them from binding properly with other compounds.
