Descripción

Senkyunolide A is a natural product that has been identified as an inhibitor of the MDR1 (P-glycoprotein) transporter. This inhibition leads to increased accumulation of chemotherapeutic agents in tumor cells and inhibits their growth. Senkyunolide A is a potent cyclase inhibitor, which can be used to identify and characterize cyclases, as well as to elucidate the biological function of these enzymes. The compound also shows activity against matrix metalloproteinases, which are enzymes that degrade extracellular matrix proteins. Senkyunolide A has been shown in vitro to inhibit the activity of various enzymes involved in energy metabolism, including pyruvate kinase and lactate dehydrogenase. In vivo studies have shown senkyunolide A to cause neuronal death by inhibiting protein synthesis and increasing oxidative stress levels in neurons.
