Descripción:2-Trifluoromethyl thioxanthone is a reactive inorganic acid that has been used as an intermediate in the synthesis of benzotrifluoride. It reacts with water to form hydrogen fluoride and sulfuric acid, which can be decomposed by heat. 2-Trifluoromethyl thioxanthone is usually prepared from benzotrifluoride, an organic acid, and sulfuric acid in the presence of a dehydrating agent. The reaction mechanism for this process has been studied using computational methods and functional theory. The photophysical properties of 2-trifluoromethylthioxanthone have also been observed in organic solvents.
