4,4,4-Trifluoro-1-(2-furyl)-1,3-butanedione is a molecule that has the chemical formula CF(CF)OCF. It is used in particle synthesis and has been shown to be useful for the detection of hydroxyl groups in organic molecules. The molecule has been examined by means of an intramolecular hydrogen bonding assay. 4,4,4-Trifluoro-1-(2-furyl)-1,3-butanedione can bind with metal ions and form complexes in order to chelate them. This compound has also been found to have antihypertensive effects when administered intravenously to rats.
