2,2,3,3-Tetrafluoropropyl tosylate is a tert-butyldimethylsilyl chloride derivative used as a solvent. It is prepared by reacting tert-butyldimethylchlorosilane with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of amines. The product is soluble in organic solvents such as acetone, ethanol and ether. This product has been used to remove chlorides from anions and polyfluoroalkyls from organics. The adsorption capacity of 2,2,3,3-tetrafluoropropyl tosylate can be enhanced by the addition of ammonium hexafluorophosphate.
2,2,3,3-Tetrafluoropropyl tosylate has been shown to have strong NMR spectra for anions and polyfluoroalkyls.
