(5S,6Z,8E,10E,12R,14Z)-20,20,20-Trifluoro-5,12-Dihydroxy-6,8,10,14-Eicosatetraenoicacid is a metabolically stable analog of the prostaglandin E2. It has been shown to inhibit the production of human immunoglobulin and chemotactic activity. The compound is absorbed by ultraviolet irradiation and metabolized in the body to form an epoxide that is then hydrolyzed by epoxide hydrolase to form (5S)-6-(1-hydroxyethyl)hexahydro-4H-[1]benzopyran-4-one. This metabolite has been found to be inactive in tests for its ability to inhibit chemotaxis or stimulate human immunoglobulin synthesis.
