Descripción:Travoprost is a potent, selective agonist of the prostanoid receptor FP. It is used as a research tool to study the function of the prostaglandin receptors in different tissues and cells. Travoprost binds to the prostanoid receptor FP with high affinity and specificity. This binding stimulates cell membrane-bound G-proteins, leading to an increase in intracellular cAMP levels. This is followed by activation of protein kinase A (PKA) and phosphorylation of proteins that regulate ion channel activity. Travoprost has been shown to activate ion channels and stimulate ligand-gated ion channels such as NMDA receptors, nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, serotonin 5HT3 receptors, and metabotropic glutamate mGlu2/3 receptors.
