Descripción:Alpha, alpha, alpha-trifluoro-o-cresol is a cresol derivative. It has a hydroxyl group and a fluorine atom in the ortho position. The molecule is an efficient substrate for the enzyme alcohol dehydrogenase, which oxidizes it to trifluoroacetic acid. Alpha, alpha, alpha-trifluoro-o-cresol can also be used as a chemical intermediate for other molecules. The kinetic constants of this compound have been determined by structural analysis and conformational properties of the molecule. The intramolecular hydrogen bond between the carbonyl group and the imine is responsible for stabilizing these bonds in order to maintain the shape of this molecule. Alpha, alpha, alpha-trifluoro-o-cresol is neutral with a ph of 7.
