Trimethoxy(3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,7,7,8,8,8-tridecafluorooctyl)sila is a fluorine substituted silane that can be used as a coating material. It is hydrophobic and has a low surface energy. Trimethoxy(3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6)7-tetradecafluoro-octyl)silane has been shown to have good chemical stability in deionized water and in presence of reactive oxygen species. The silane monolayer formed on the substrate surface has been found to be stable for up to 1 year under ambient conditions. Trimethoxy(3 3 4 4 5 5 6 6 7 7 8 8 8-tridecafluorooctyl)silane has also been found to be effective as an optical coating material by absorbing ultraviolet
