Tryptamine is a naturally occurring monoamine that can be found in plants, animals, and humans. It is bound to the 5-HT2 receptor in the brain, where it affects mood and appetite. Tryptamine also has a role in cell physiology by regulating mitochondrial membrane potential and influencing thermodynamic data.
