Tribromochloromethane is a monomer that belongs to the class of hydroxyl-containing organic compounds. It is used as a pharmaceutical preparation and has been shown to be effective in the treatment of metabolic disorders, such as diabetes mellitus type 2. Tribromochloromethane has also been shown to be an effective polymerization initiator for polyamides. Tribromochloromethane can be used in the manufacture of pharmaceutical dosage forms. The drug can also be used cosmetically, due to its high boiling point, low volatility, and stability at acidic pHs.
