3,4,5,6-Tetrafluorobenzene-1,2-diamine is a ligand that minimizes the reactivity of copper. It is an acetonitrile derivative with a fluorine atom in the 2-position and two chlorine atoms at the 4 and 6 positions. The copper complex has been shown to be stable and active in x-ray structures. The ligand has been shown to have minimal interaction with biological systems due to its lack of electron density for bonding to carbon or hydrogen atoms. This property makes it useful for calibrations as well as biological studies involving other metal complexes. 3,4,5,6-Tetrafluorobenzene-1,2-diamine has also been shown to interact with mononuclear metal complexes.
