Taurochenodeoxycholic acid sodium salt is a water-soluble drug that is used for the treatment of infections caused by bacteria. It has been shown to inhibit bacterial growth by inhibiting the synthesis of cholesterol or fatty acids in the bacteria. Taurochenodeoxycholic acid sodium salt is metabolized by cytochrome P450 and glutathione reductase, which are enzymes in the liver. The drug binds to cytosolic C2+, leading to an increase in intracellular calcium levels (Ca2+). This inhibits cellular proliferation and induces apoptosis.
