Tris(2,4-dimethylphenyl)phosphine is an organic solvent that has been used in the matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) technique for imaging biological macromolecules. The molecule can be used as a ligand for metal ions and other electroluminescent devices. It also has the ability to desorb molecules from surfaces, which makes it useful for cleaning surfaces of organic contaminants. Tris(2,4-dimethylphenyl)phosphine has also been shown to have high efficiencies in transfer devices.
