Trimethylsilylbenzenesulfonate is an inorganic acid that is used as a reactive agent to produce trialkylsilyl groups. It is also used as an activated reagent for the synthesis of carbonyl compounds, ester compounds, and anion derivatives. The reaction products are often silicon-containing materials. Trimethylsilylbenzenesulfonate reacts with hydroxy groups to form carbonic acid esters. This compound has been used to synthesize organic compounds containing a carboxylic acid group, such as amino acids, phosphatidylcholine, and phthalates.
