It has been shown to be an effective antioxidant and can be used in treatments of polyvinyl chloride products. 2,4,6-Tris-(1-phenyl-ethyl)phenol is hydrophobic and can be used as a coating agent for surfaces that are exposed to water or moisture. 2,4,6-Tris-(1-phenyl-ethyl)phenol has been shown to inhibit the enzymatic reaction between chlorine and hydrophobic compounds. This chemical also has optical properties that are sensitive to changes in pH levels and temperature.
