2,2'-(P-TOLYLIMINO)DIETHANOL is a cross-linking agent that is used in the production of microcapsules. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of P. aeruginosa and L. acidophilus cells in vitro. Inhibition may be due to its ability to bind to the cell membrane and disrupt lipid bilayers. 2,2'-(P-TOLYLIMINO)DIETHANOL has also been found to have genotoxic effects on V79 cells and light exposure decreases its inhibitory activity, suggesting that it may have an optical property.
