1,2,3,4-Tetrafluorobenzene is a chemical compound that has been studied for its potential to be used as an anticancer drug. It has been shown to react with DNA in the presence of hydrogen fluoride and form cationic polymerization products. 1,2,3,4-Tetrafluorobenzene also reacts with DNA in the presence of a hydroxyl group or steric interactions. This reaction is reversible and does not inhibit DNA synthesis. Studies have found that 1,2,3,4-tetrafluorobenzene binds to the nitrogen atoms on the sugar ring of nucleotides and forms dna duplexes by hydrogen bonding between the oxygen atoms on the sugar rings and nitrogen atoms on adjacent nucleotides. The diphenyl ether moiety interacts with the bases at the 3' end of one strand of DNA while hydrogen bonding with bases at the 5' end of another strand. These
