2,4,6-Triiodophenol is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of phenols. It is used in analytical chemistry as a UV-absorbing reagent and is also used in wastewater treatment. 2,4,6-Triiodophenol has been shown to cause cell death by apoptosis or caspase-independent pathways. The optimum concentration for 2,4,6-triiodophenol is 1 - 10 mM and it has been shown to be active against cancer tissues and inflammatory diseases.
2,4,6-Triiodophenol has also been studied as a potential marker of kidney function in plasma samples by measuring its concentration using mass spectrometry.
