Tert-Butyl (2-iodoethyl)carbamate is a potent inhibitor of the cyclase enzyme that is involved in the production of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. It has been shown to be a high-potency and selective inhibitor of cyclase in vitro, with nanomolar potency and good oral bioavailability. Tert-Butyl (2-iodoethyl)carbamate has potent activity against Alzheimer's Disease, with excellent selectivity for the brain. In vivo studies have shown that it inhibits the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's Disease and improves cognitive function.
