11-Triethoxysilylundecanal is a monoclonal antibody that recognizes functional groups and base formation. It can be used to immobilize biorecognition elements on the surface of biomaterials. 11-Triethoxysilylundecanal has been shown to form a monolayer at the interface of an aqueous solution with a hydrophobic substrate, such as polystyrene. This monolayer is stable under thermally or electrochemically reactive conditions, but not under photoelectron irradiation. 11-Triethoxysilylundecanal also recognizes potassium ion in human serum and has low energy reactivity, which makes it suitable for detection of potassium ions by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy.
