4,4'-Thiobis(6-tert-butyl-o-cresol) is a synthetic polymer that can be used in the production of polyester. It is resistant to oxidation and has been shown to be an effective stabilizer for polystyrene. The product yield of 4,4'-thiobis(6-tert-butyl-o-cresol) increases with reaction time and exhibits synergistic effects with styrene and zirconium oxide. The infrared spectroscopy of this compound indicates it contains phenolic antioxidants and ethylene.
