2,4,5-Trichlorobenzenethiol (TCBT) is an organic compound that occurs as a by-product in the manufacture of certain pesticides. TCBT is a sulfur analog of 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzofuran (TCDF). It is thermodynamically stable and kinetically inert. TCBT also has been shown to be a precursor for the production of polychlorinated dibenzofurans. The functional theory and kinetic theory are used to describe the chemical properties of TCBT and its sulfur analogues. Parameters such as activation energy, equilibrium constant, and rate constant are used in these theories to predict chemical reactions.
